There was a time when retirement served as God’s waiting room . . . people routinely died just a few years into retirement. Thankfully, those days are long gone. Science has generated a revolution in ageing: people are living into their 80’s, choosing active lifestyles, starting new careers and businesses, taking courses, traveling the world, pursuing hobbies, volunteering, helping to raise their grandchildren. While a slower daily pace is appealing to many . . . the thought of turning into a couch potato? Not so much. It’s become clear: this is not your parents’ retirement route.
What do you think about retiring the ‘R’ word? What if we called ourselves, “Niagara College Protirees?” Are you familiar with the four phases of retirement, and how they impact your life? Now that science has proven that your genes only influence 20% of your health direction, do you know how to get the most out of the 80% that you control?
N.C. retiree, Stu Black, who prefers to call himself an N.C. graduate, invites you to join the discussion at our kick-off luncheon, Wed. Sept 5th, 12 noon at Club Roma. We’ll share some laughs along with insights from people who have improved their health, turning this period of their lives into a great experience.
